December 2010 Newsletter

November 2010 has witnessed a mix of academic and cultural activities. Deepawali celebrations and Children’s Day were the main events, which Shiksha Sopan children celebrated with their teachers and enjoyed the most. The evening centers, Sopan Vidyalaya, PPY, and other regular activities ran well.

November 2010 Newsletter

In the month of November, Shiksha Sopan conducted a number of programmes bringing out their enthusiasm and creativity. The school, Science cell, and evening centers were quite active. A special Demo-Lecture class on plants was designed and conducted by an IITK student using field visits, videos and photographs. Science Cell took up the whole academic work in a workshop of Physics teachers at Anveshika, Kanpur.

October 2010 Newsletter

The main programs in October were Teacher's Day Celebration , Janamastami and Science shows and workshops together with the regular activities. Swavalamban Kendra courses, Gahan Adyayan kendra classes and Evening learning centers were all run very well. In the newsletter the various activities are elaborated further.

September 2010 Newsletter

August 2010 was a mix of cultural and academic activities. Independence day, Rakshabandhan and Cultural programme of Sopan Library were main events. With the help of NSS students of IITK, a work plan to create newer educational modules and materials is started.

The month of July marks start of excitement of a new session for many children as schools
reopen after summer vacation. Our school and centers too are being reorganised
with new programmes. Several of Sopan children have opted for higher studies,
beyond std 12 and they are being admitted in the respective courses. Science
team is actively involved in creating interesting activity programmes.

July 2010 Newsletter

The main activity in June was summer camp for students of Pratibha Poshan Yojana senior. The swavalamban kendra courses, Gahan Adhyayan Kendra classes and Evening centers also ran well despite the heat and humidity of kanpur.

I apologize for the unprecedented delay in submission of this document this time. It was completely due to inefficiency at my end.

June 2010 Newsletter

The month of May is the time for Summer workshop for Pratibha Poshan Yojna. All participants were at IITK campus having a academic enlightening experience under the able guidance of professors and students of IITK.

All students studying in the Gahan Adhyayan Kendra passed out successfully with an increased no.of students securing higher marks compared to their last year performance.

This month saw lesser activity overall, due to the evening centers and Sopan Vidyalaya being closed due to excessive heat in Kanpur.



May'10 Newsletter

The main activities of this month were Sopan Scholarship Test, Jal Sanrakhsan (Water conservation) Rally, inauguration of new library in Nankari village and Science Workshop in Anveshika.

April'10 Newsletter

The main events of this month were Mathematics day, Science Workshop at Etawah (UP), one day camp for PPY senior students, and games activity at SAC.

March 2010 Contribution

March Newsletter

Due to upcoming board exam in March and school exams in April, February saw an increase in attendance and seriousness of students at our study centers.

The exclusively run 'intense learning center' was closed for this academic session after the distribution of stationary to the students due to the upcoming examinations, for students to do revision of the chapters which they have mastered in the learning center.

The Sopan students got an opportunity to put 2 stalls in the Open House conducted at IITk. Several schools in and around Kanpur had participated in this. Our village students filled the school along with their teachers with thrill and excitement while explaining them the science experiments.

The participants were also given cotton bags made by members in Sopan Swavlamban kendra, The stall of shiksha sopan students was one of the major center of attractions during the entire day.

This month students also got to interact with a Professor from IIT Guwahati, who took time out to explain to these students the technology of Fiber Optics, A couple of students attended this demonstration due to the chapter of 'total internal reflection' in their books.

A workshop was offered by Ms. Neha Vithani where students were taught to make multi-layer greeting card. Several students mastered the art during the workshop and made a couple of greeting cards for teachers and friends the provided material.

February 2010 Newsletter

The month of January was packed with a week long Annual function which started from Swami Vivekananda's birthday celebration on 12 Jan to Jan 17 with free eye camp, where 27 aged villagers got their eye cataract removed. during this week children also carried out a 'chetna rally' spreading the message of tobacco and liquor free society.

The month also had a Science workshop and a painting competition for children of different age-groups.

An innovative competition named 'abhivyakti' was organized this time, where children were given a photograph and were asked to make a story out of it. This pushed the limits of positive imagination in the minds of children.

January Newsletter

Shiksha Sopan has seen a marked difference in its school attendance, after recent initiatives of reward program for 100% attendees and motivating respective parents on the need of education.

The Swavalamban kendra of our village center succeeded in getting orders of making cloth bags to be given during the recent reunions in IIT kanpur. This immediately fosters the purpose of having a Sewing training course for 30 girls in December. They would all be benefited by this order.

Students and teachers at Sopan participated in 2 different workshops for Physics teaching through experiments.

The Sopan team is gearing in for the Annual function in 2nd week of January. This time the central theme was decided to be Environment
